(Updated for a "Bike Lock Alert") In July 1779, Brigadier General Anthony Wayne led his troops in a daring attack on British forces at Stony Point. This Saturday, we’ll attack a few hills and stop somewhere for a leisurely lunch on this ride from Nyack Memorial Park to Stony Point State Park.

The route north is via 9W, down through Haverstraw then following the river roads to Stony Point. Route back is via Strawtown Road. Total distance is about 38 miles.

Meet up at Nyack’s Memorial Park at 830a (corner of Depew & Piermont Aves).

Lock on to this: A re-enactment of the Storming of Stony Point coincides with our Saturday visit.  FYI, Stony Point Battlefield Park doesn't permit you to walk your bicycle on the grounds. With a big crowd possible for the Saturday battle re-enactment, if you have a bike lock, you might want to bring it to hitch up your horse by the gate as we stroll the grounds and soak up some local history.

Remember to bring your helmet, water bottles and tire fixings. PAY ATTENTION TO THE FORECAST:  If it’s raining 30 minutes before ride time or if WeatherUnderground.com predicts severe storms during the ride, we’re not going to risk it.

Pace & Terrain – Pace = C+ (about 15 mph). This is a no-drop ride.
