Will warmer weather ever arrive?  It was cold and breezy out at 8:30 Sunday morning, so I wasn't expecting many riders.  We had three on the ride: Joe, Paul, and me.  With the wind often in our favor, we made good time on the way to New Jersey.  On the little bump on Strawtown Road it was clear that Joe's winter training has paid off in spades.  He easily rode away from Paul and me there, and he continued to set the pace for the remainder of the ride.

When we weren't catching our breath from chasing Joe, the conversation turned often to Paul's experiences with triathlon and Ironman.  He has completed multiple Ironman events, and is already in training for a series of triathlons leading to an Ironman in August.  Neither Joe nor I could imagine the preparation required for Ironman, let alone the determination required to complete a full day of swimming, cycling, and running.  Our hats are off to Paul, and we hope that he will continue to include RBC rides in his training.

We had all ridden to the start, so at the intersection with 304 Paul continued north on 9W toward Stony Point.  Joe and I parted ways back at David's, with Joe still having the ride back to Tappan ahead of him.  He shamed me by saying that a ride of fewer than 50 miles doesn't seem complete.  Since I live in New City, I wound up with the shortest ride.  We each ended with over 40 miles at the advertised pace.

Many thanks to Joe and Paul for being such terrific riding companions.  I can't wait for many more club rides this year.

    Steve
