We had a nice turnout for the ride this morning, in spite of the still-chilly temps when we set out at 9:00.  Allen, Emily, Ernie, Joe, and I planned the longer route, while Lynwood and Paul opted for the shorter ride.  Allen told us that he was still recovering from injury, but then set a quick pace across Brewery/Strawtown Road.  That first little bump on Strawtown Road just before Birchwood School (I refuse to call it a climb) split us up a little, but we quickly reassembled for the ride across Sickletown to the one-way tunnel and Pearl River.

Emily is getting ready for an Ironman, and she crushed the Blue Hill climb.  Joe slipped by me early in the climb, and we were both impressed to see Emily come sailing past the two of us.  In spite of their complaints about being out of shape, Allen and Ernie finished just behind.

For the cruise down Rivervale Road, we were hoping to get a tidy paceline going.  Joe set a quick, steady pace that eventually dropped a couple of the bunch, but it was a blast sitting on the wheel of someone who is so dependable.

When we got back to David's, there were smiles all around.  What could be better than riding on such a perfect day with a fun group of RBC cyclists?  We enjoyed David's hospitality, sharing stories of our past cycling adventures.  Many thanks to all for riding.  The weather helped, but it was the riders who made the morning so enjoyable.
